Each year the Harley Davidson CVO team picked a few models from the main lineup, overhaul them, and then release them as premium editions that have a lot in common with their roots but plenty to stand out as well. In 2009 they decided that it was time for the Road Glide to have it’s turn in the spotlight. Here’s some of the highlights.

As with most models in the touring lineup, the CVO Road Glide has arrived on the scene in 2009 with a newly redesigned frame. This new backbone is more adept as providing a smooth ride even with the the 110 cubic-inch Screamin’ Eagle powerhouse settled in. New front fork and rear shocks also are integrated to add to the improved ride quality.

While the premium motor is nothing to shake a stick at, this CVO edition gets a number of other upgrades as well. Some of these include the “slammed’ front fender, the characteristic front fairing with custom paint, saddlebag extensions, matching rear fascia, and chrome 18″ “Blade” wheels. The custom paint shop produces these bikes in three color combinations only and the bike is shown here in Electric Orange/Vivid Black.

All too often the Harley Davidson touring crowd feels left out or under-served in the yearly CVO lineup. Not in 2009. The new Ultra Classic Electra Glide was designed from the ground up take you from coast to coast in comfort while wrapping you in a big of nostalgia along the way.

Powered by the the 110 cubic-inch Screamin’ Eagle engine, the 113 ft-lbs of torque is more than enough for smooth acceleration, handling steep inclines, and dominating the passing lane.

The exterior styling easily sets this bike apart from the rest of the Harley lineup. From the Rumble windshield trim to the suspended heated seats, from the roulette wheels to the redesigned frame, this CVO bike is an instant classic. Available in only 3 custom paint schemes and shown here in Autumn Haze/High Octane Orange.

In 2009 the Harley Davidson CVO team produced limited quantities of the Softail Springer custom-styled motorcycle. This bike incorporates classic styling from nose to tail with the most noticeable features being the custom springer from fork, custom seat, wheels, and bobtail rear fender.

Power was not forgotten either and the Softail Springer was given the 110″ air-cooled Screamin’ Eagle engine. Living up to it’s name, this fuel injected work horse puts out a full 110 ft-lbs of torque at 3,000 rpm. Once you take a ride and feel that power channeled through the six-speed transmission, you’ll instantly be able to tell the difference between a CVO and all the rest.

Other notable features include the Road Winder chrome forged aluminum wheels, 4-piston front caliper, and horseshoe oil tank. Last but not least is the custom CVO paint job which comes in four layouts and shown here in Candy Cobalt with Blue Steel Flames.

Every year Harley Davidson riders say that the bikes coming out of the Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) divsion can’t get any better and every year the team tries to prove them wrong.

One of the limited edition models on the 2009 lineup is the Screamin’ Eagle Fat Bob. This loud and flashy bike is supped up with a the 110 cubic-inch Screamin’ Eagle V-Twin engine that cranks out 114 ft-lbs of torque at 3,500 rpm. That’s plenty of power and with the entire motorcycle weighing in at only 728 lbs soaking wet, it’s built to be one mean machine.

Styling on this special edition Harley Davidson includes a number of upgrades the most notable of which are a custom seat, two-piece control console, a premium suspension system, custom chin spoiler, and fang wheels. Available in five CVO-only color combinations and shown here in Yellow Pearl/Platinum Quartz.
